Theater Acoustics RT60 Calculator
How long sound lingers in a room after it stops, known as reverberation time. It works it out band by band from the room's surfaces and seating, and compares it with the range recommended for the kind of venue.
- Reverberation time by the Sabine and Eyring equations, for each octave band.
- Total sound absorption, and how much each surface contributes.
- Seating absorption blended by how full the room is.
- An approximate critical distance.
- Follows: ISO 3382-1, measurement of room acoustic parameters in performance spaces.
- Reverberation time is one measure of a hall. Echoes, room shape and noise from outside need their own acoustic design.
